Vacation part three

(Mostly) fun times in South Dakota (if you discount the rain on the 4th of July, the rat that shared our cabin, and a 3 a.m.-pneumonia trip to the E.R.)

Mount Rushmore was cold, rainy, foggy, and wet- for 14 of the 16 hours we stayed reserving our spot for the infamous fireworks. They ended up being a bust.

So we took pictures with the miniature "Mount Rushmore" until we could convince the kids that this little statue wasn't what we traveled all this way to see.

We filled out our workbooks and the kids were "sworn in" as Junior Park Rangers.

There were A LOT of people. Rumor has it they wouldn't let anyone else in after 30,000 people.

The skies finally cleared for a few hours, and it was amazing. A crazy day, but worth it.

While in this part of the country, we had some nice picnics outside enjoying nature.

And were able to see the fireworks in Custer, South Dakota.

And saw some "wild" animals.

And went here. This was fun....

Vacation part two

Back "home" to beautiful COLORADO.

We were on vacation....

We have been back from our almost month-long vacation and have been busy moving to a new "home" that we get as a perk with Adrian's new position. It is gorgeous and we're very blessed. In the near future we will post pictures of our place with the awesome view over the ocean. But first, here is part one of our vacation.

Waiting at the St. Kitts Airport for our (late) plane to come in.

When we arrived for the night at our beautiful hotel in Puerto Rico, the vacation began, with a long-awaited ice cream cone in the hotel lobby and a few other misc. treats that we can't normally get.

We went out walking on the beach outside our hotel room.

We ate homemade coconut lollipops.

And then they saw it.... and made a run for it. We haven't seen a playground like this in about 8 months, since our last visit to the States.

This crazy face means "I am super excited!"

We ate yummy dinner, and did we mention that the food is so cheap (from what we're used to) that we just want to order everything on the menu.

And last but not least, we got to see the Martineau's for a quick visit. Susan is Adrian's cousin and Stan is Mission President over the Puerto Rico West Mission. They were the first of many family members that we were able to see during our trip.
